Graffiti removal: why sooner is better

Why graffiti is worth removing quickly, and how the surface affects the way it’s cleaned.

Graffiti on a shop front, wall or bin store makes a property look uncared for. It’s worth dealing with quickly.

Why remove it quickly

  • Fresh paint comes off more easily. The longer paint sits on a surface, the more it bonds with it.
  • Graffiti can attract more graffiti. Tagged walls left alone often collect more tags.
  • It affects how people see the business or building.

The surface matters

How graffiti is removed depends on what it’s painted on.

  • Brick and stone are porous, so paint soaks in. They need a method that lifts the paint without damaging the face of the brick.
  • Smooth surfaces like metal, glass and some painted walls usually clean more easily.
  • Delicate surfaces need a gentle approach so they aren’t marked.

How we remove it

We offer graffiti removal as part of our commercial cleaning, alongside low-pressure steam cleaning. Tell us what the graffiti is on and send a photo, and we’ll advise on the best approach.

Report it

If graffiti is offensive or appears on public property nearby, you can also report it to your local council.
